  1. Gatekeepers gunna gatekeep. The only people who seem to care about “real” games are 12 y/o boys and men that are 12 y/o emotionally/mentally.

Admittedly I’m adverse to mobile games, but that’s usually because they’re so unbelievably predatory for money. Folks that play are gamers.

Do you play a game and enjoy it? Then you’re a gamer… just ignore the G*mers lmao

  2. I feel sorry for men and how everything they can do and enjoy in life is attached to their egos. I play both highly challenging competitive FPS games, solo and team, pvp mmorpgs where you have to minmax and think everything or you will lose simply based on math AND I also enjoy games like Stardew Valley, Pokemon, occasional Sims etc. (Also, guys often suck at PVP because their egos prevent them from doing what needs to be done cause they want to be edgy and do it their own way and listen to no one, damn I love being a woman and being able to make my own choices and generally just win.)

Up your game bois! Be brave! You can do it too!

  3. Some of these I find hilariousā€¦ like I donā€™t agree with them when they say casual gaming isnā€™t gaming, but then they go and say stuff like Mario isnā€™t real gamingā€¦ like the most iconic gaming character isnā€™t gamingā€¦

Also all games require skill to play, just different skills. Stardew valley definitely has challenging sections, and the entire gameplay loop is around strategy of being a profitable farm.

This also brings me back to my days of playing Eve online, where tons of the men playing constantly said the only true way to play was through methods that required not actually playing (afk farms, paying money instead of doing in game things for money). So honestly, I donā€™t know how much men actually like gaming and think that having fun ā€œruins the point because itā€™s not optimalā€.

No matter what though, Iā€™m going to keep playing games I enjoy in the ways I enjoy them and continue not caring if random AHoles on the internet say Iā€™m not a ā€œreal gamerā€.

  4. Not that’s a take that is worth responding to, but they’ve got a very limited view of what “challenges” and “skills” mean.
For them “challenge = beating a hard boss” and “skills = reflexes”.
That’s like the most basic view on video games that is shared by the general public.

Except that in Pokemon, completing the pokedex is a challenge too, and it requires skills to train and catch pokemons to make a good team.

Animal Crossing requires skills like regularity and planning and imagination to make your island/village come to life, and it’s a challenge to collect a lot of things.

Mario has very challenging stages too, and requires skills in precision and jumping to collect everything.

Sims and Stardew requires to master and go through multiple menus to play the game effectively.

Gamerz proving over and over again that they are very small and limited people who only enjoy trashing others and nothing else.
They have no joy in their heart when they play.

  5. I play every single game listed here haha. Do these guys not like Nintendo? Because most of the games listed (PokĆ©mon, Animal Crossing, and Mario)are Nintendo. Also Mario being on the list is really funny because he’s one of the most iconic video games characters ever but pop off gamer āœØ
