This was the most annoying boss for me so far in the Elden Ring DLC. But I beat him finally.

Commander Gaius was so annoying, this is the only boss fight in the DLC that I didn't enjoy so far but I did beat him finally. So I wanted to share my victory because I am happy and none of my friends play Elden Ring so they won't understand.

  1. Great kill, Bayle the Dread was the worst for me by far. Had to give up on the fight for a bit and run around grabbing literally every scudatree fragment that was accessible to me before finally succeeding. Personally hate the scudatree fragment system so much.

  2. He looks challenging, feels like you should be able to ride Torrent for this haha. Great job!

I’ve beaten 6 of the 11 Major Bosses in the DLC so far, but haven’t gotten to him yet. >!Putrescent Knight!< was probably the most annoying one for me so far.

Also as a side note, I’ve felt that it would be borderline impossible to do these bosses as a mage without some kind of summon. They are so aggressive, I literally never have a chance to cast unless they are aggroing the NPC summon/my spirit summon. That and the fact that a lot of them have one hit KOs or take half my health with a hit. There’s only so many perfect dodges I can do in a row.

  3. I was so excited when I entered the arena, saw a huge field, saw a boss on a mount and realized I can summon Torrent, my loyal steed! “It’s an epic horse battle!”, I thought gleefully! Anyway, easily the worst idea I had in this DLC.

  4. Yeah Gaius is probably the single most overtuned boss in the whole game. Not even the final boss hits that hard. He was one of the biggest roadblocks for me in the expansion, and one of the only bosses that actually pissed me off.

Nice job beating him! From asking around, most people seem to consider him one of the hardest bosses, so it’s an achievement when you finally get him.
