I passed Pokemon Arceus at launch because I had read from Pokemon enthusiasts that the game was a bit empty and the graphisms were subpar. My only reliable media at the time only gave the game at rating of 6 out of 10.
Not bad, but nothing extraordinary.
I'm going through some hard times right now (I've been on sick leaves for a year with no end in sight), Pokemon always brought me some short-term confort, and I've been recommended Arceus on the sub, so here I went.
Almost 100h later, I'm still deep into the game. I haven't loved a pokemon so much since Pokemon Blue when I was a teen.
I absolutely love the new catching system, and it's a pleasure exploring to find new monsters to complete my Pokedex. I've found new favorite Pokemons (pics included), the story was simple but really grabbed me (a first for a Pkm game).
The world is not big but it feels like a breath of fresh air with very pretty colors (love watching the sky). I love the fight without transition and to finally see the mons in the flesh and pixels. It really makes me feel closer to my companions in the game. So much that I'm releasing every pokemon after finishing studying them, and keep only my absolute favorites.
Sure, it's not Zelda BOTW, but it's an incredible step in the Pokemon formula, and has really reignited my enthusiasm for the franchise.
I'm on my way to complete a pokedex for the first time in more than 20 years.
I'm wondering if I should buy Peal or Diamond though, since it's the same universe in the past.
I'll decide that after completing Arceus, in an 100h.
Things I love about arceus.
-Pokemon are scary
-Paras is a giant asshole
-The culture around pokemon is believable
-the Pokedex mechanic is an actual mechanic, it makes me feel like an actual pokemon naturalist.
-Each zone is pretty fun
-The way it ties into diamond and pearl
-The final boss fight
-It makes me feel like a member of team rocket from Pokemon the first movie before Mewtwo rebels (specifically the Taurus scene)
Things I don’t like about the game
-The graphical limitations
-The lack of voice acting
The game is an easy 9/10 and as soon as it gets an HR remaster (and maybe separate customization for pronouns) it’s going to be a 10/10.
It’s honestly my favourite 3D Pokémon game. The mechanics are so fun and I also played for hundreds of hours. Really fun game.
I loved it so much ! I lost my save with my previous Switch so I’m replaying it but going to the next area only after perfecting or doing the max researches possible on all Pokemon available ^.^
so excited for the next installment of this ❤️ have played Pokémon games since childhood, the originals, and this is still one of my favorites.
