Oldie Pet sim game I was obsessed with. You could breed intelligent creatures called norms and pass on genetic traits, teach it language with your own input, and it even had an artificial intelligence that was ahead of its time. There was also a thriving community and lots of custom mods (for better or for worse, I accidentally downloaded killer bees and they wiped out my norn population.)
I never see anyone talk about this game, it's a real shame.
Feeling nostalgic, anyone else raise Norns? (Creatures 1997)

I adore this game!! Played it since I was 8 and now I am in my mid twenties and I still open this game once in a while. I love how you can play it on Steam now
Omg…
I…
I played this when it was released. 🙈 (I’m 45)
The original eggs were on a safe floppy disc. Holy crap.
I spent so much of my childhood with my norns! I was a bit too young to fully understand the intricacies of the game but I loved teaching them to speak and giving them food. This, along with Black and White, was what kickstarted my interest in PC gaming and if either one were remade I would cry with happiness I think!
omg memory unlocked (●__●)
Oh my God, yes! I remember the box or ads or something having a quote from Douglas Adams saying it was more exciting than life on Mars?
Creatures is one of those games that got me into coding.
I got really into modding but also editing the norns behavior.
Blueberry still joins me on my desk plushie rotation sometimes.
Loved this game. Had no idea it was on Steam. I was too young to be good at a super detailed level, but I did like teaching them and growing them. I was always nice – never a mean hand!
Loved this, all Sims games, Black and White……I wish they made more like this.
Aw I loved Creatures! I forgot all about it.
The evil green guys used to make me feel uncomfortable and anxious about my poor cute guys though. I didn’t want them getting bullied 🙁
I absolutely played this! I watched a video of someone doing a rundown of the whole history of it a month or two ago, and it was really interesting to know more backstory.
I loved this game!!
I always wanted it, but couldn’t get it!
Ba beep bap boop YES cute little babies I miss this game!
This is one of my favorite series and honestly a big contributor to me getting into software development and biological sciences, my eventual career paths.
Yes I played the first one which I think is the prettiest. I don’t think any similar games are on the market now ??? which is a shame. They also talked 🥰
Omg. I still have the floppy disk with the eggs!
Wow I definitely remember that cover and the building but the critters not so much. Definitely had it though.
Yoooo, I loved this game. The original was fantastic, but Creatures 3 and Docking Station will always be my jam.
