What was your favorite DS/3DS game growing up?

Curious to know!

Feeling nostalgic since Nintendo online services for the 3DS/WiiU are shutting down on the 8th of this month! So I’m playing online on my 3ds as much as I can before then.

(Animal crossing new leaf is really busy this week) 😊

  1. Nintendogs. It was my first game for the original DS. I couldn’t own a dog at the time, so it was the closest I got. Disk competition was my favorite. The stylus didn’t like it much. This was also when voice commands were weak. Pretty sure “sit” came out like “hi” to my virtual dog.

  2. I forgot to include my own answer haha.

For me I’d say getting ‘Style Savvy’ was my favorite growing up. It was the game my mother bought me when she let me get a DSi, I played the heck out of it for months until I could ask for another game- which was then Kingdom Heartas 358/2 days

  3. Rune Factory 4 took up a lot of my time. Animal Crossing too. I enjoyed the Zelda remakes and Pokémon too! Mario Kart as well. So many memories of lazy rainy days after school hanging out with my sisters playing our 3DS. It’s earned its place in my heart!

Edit: Ohh and Fire Emblem Fates and Awakening too!

  4. Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations, although my guilty pleasure is Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes, a match three game where you play as a group of teenage friends, a druid, knight, ghost, mage, and one who has been infected by a legendary artifact that has the power to control demons.

Also you use the basic units to power up mega units, like Death Knights, Dragons, Ghosts, Djinn, Cavalry, etc

  5. I didn’t have a 3DS in the 2010s (and I was nearly an adult when it was released) but I literally just bought one and a few games! I’ve been playing Fire Emblem Awakening, which isn’t as good as 3 Houses but still fun.

  6. Probably the Mario & Sonic at the Olympics (2008), I will play it with my siblings all day. We loved the mini games and vibe to the music and spent the day making theories about why not all the characters were in the game. Most of our focus for obvious reasons gravitated towards Sonic & Co. (Any animal that spoke was our immediate favorite so yeah)

When it was just me and my DS, I would play Harvest Moon, having almost all the DS versions from Sunshine Islands to the Grand Bazaar (my obsession). Thanks to it, I developed a hate towards the cicadas and their annoying sounds in summer. I adored the gameplay of multitasking and ignored all the romantic candidates cause I ain’t wasting time on that. 🤣

  7. I was an adult when I bought a 3DS, so this isn’t a ‘growing up’ situation for me, and I’ve mostly been a PC gamer. But. I really do like that one Luigi’s Mansion game. Dark moon or something? That might be the best one I’ve played on 3DS. I sometimes like to throw in one of the Adventure time games that I picked up more recently from a thrift store. It’s also fun if you want a cute little side scroller situation.

  8. I can’t remember my first DS games. I do know I got a R4 card from my neighbour for my birthday. Before that my fondest memories were from the Pokémon Heartgold days, so I kind of see that as my first DS game (even though I know it isn’t. It’s probably some shitty movie-game or whatever)

My first 3DS game is something I can definitely remember. I chose the game myself. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. Without this game, I never would’ve been such a big Zelda fan. My dad lied to me and said he customized my DSi a bit so I could play 3DS games. When I got home he gave me the 3DS for my birthday. Played it for hours. Definitely still my favourite 3DS game 🙂

  9. My sister and I both spent *hours* on My Frogger: Toy Trial! We weren’t very close growing up but we had such a good time bonding over this game ☺️ We still talk about it now 15 or so years later!!

I also remember replaying the Garfield Tale of Two Kitties game a billion times lol

  10. Twewy was my first ds game, so that set a pretty high bar. Ended up loving games that utilized the hardware in unique ways like twewy did, so Hotel Dusk and 999 are favorites.

Radiant Historia was just a solid JRPG and I loved it. Devil survivor, too.

Shout out to fire emblem awakening for saving the series lol

  11. No one remembers Trace Memory but it was so good. It’s a twisty, sad mystery about a girl who goes to an island to look for her long-lost parents. She meets a ghost named D there and the story is putting together what happened to him as well as her family.
