I got this game forever ago because I liked the art, but only picked it up today. Your character uses a magical maple leaf to attack. It’s hard, but mostly fine. Then… I got to the first boss. Lubella, the Witch of Decay. The fight is mostly dodging glowing orbs she shoots at you. The objective… is to slap her boobs with your leaf until she gets tired of you and leaves? As a lesbian, I have thoughts about this, but overall the feeling is… the fuck? So I took to the internet hoping to see people tearing it apart, but nope. Nothing. This post is for that, but also more of a general expression of frustration. I see this shit all the time and I hate it. ~50% of us gamers and this stuff is everywhere. Finding a game where I’m even able to play as a girl is hard as it is. I almost exclusively read books written by women for this same reason. It’s not about women being over-sexualized, which is a whole other topic I have complicated feelings on, it’s just how casual, crass, distasteful, and in your face it is. We can have powerful and sexy women characters without her being a set piece that sits there and lets you slap her absurdly sized chest.
Eugh. I hate when that happens. I had to drop Twilight Town for the same sort of thing, it was really cool to see an indie game using GZDoom but it just didn’t treat women right (눈_눈)
Darn, that’s really disappointing. I bought this game too, and I think one or two of the other games from this developer because it had a really cute art style. The screenshots of the games always looked really fun. It’s genuinely really frustrating to see women reduced to sex objects/for fanservice in so many games.
I hope that upcoming Mariachi Legends game isn’t like that because the art is so damn good and I love that character’s design so much.

Most of this game is fine. But this bit really did make me roll my eyes.
My question is: do you just need to hit her, and because her chest is on floor-level, it’s easiest to hit there? OR do you specifically need to hit her chest and/or she somehow reacts to it to make it about boobs?
I think the former is just okay, but the latter is explicitly sexual.
After asking, I decided to watch a video of the fight, and her breasts jiggle when hit, which I think certainly makes it a lot weirder, though it could be even worse. I don’t like this, but it would not be a deal-breaker for me unless it happens too much.
Sex sells. Do you know The First Descendant? The game has horrible performance and has the worst micro-transactions I have seen in any game, but the sub is full of people posting their 100 USD virtual sex dolls. One of the characters is a female speedster, and her strongest version is… a swimsuit with heels.
I almost bought this game several times, always had a little voice telling me “not now”. Now it’s never for me. Ugh. Who the fuck had this idea? Game looked so okay
It’s in the latest Momodora too I think. It’s not a lot, but yes the dev has a Giantess fetish they insert that feels so out of place.
Frankly to me I think it’s so much worse when games that aren’t “about it” have this stuff peppered in anyway.
I agree that the boss itself was pretty stupid, but it’s also not exactly a deal breaker to me since the rest of the game is fine outside of that and it’s otherwise not really mentioned.
Though I will say that it’s a bit of a stupid change in regards to their boss design, considering the rest of the Momodora series up to that point just…didn’t do that sort of thing.
kind of remind me of a post on the on the RE sub, about that one creepy scene with Jill and a tentacle, in RE3 asking “How was this allowed”. Numerous ppl on the sub, went on about how horror has always been sexual, and the influence of the devs for this scene “Alien” has always focused on phallic like imagery, and such. Some ppl even saying the point is too make you uncomfortable, without understanding, that the devs could have done anything else but chose this for their female MC. Another commenter mentioned they would have never done this with Leon or Chris, and it enlgihtened so many ppl lol. For a lot of dude gamers, the fucked-upness of shit like this goes over their heads, and Devs just put their fetishes in unnescessarily knowing there will be no backlash.
I have had another game of that series in my wish list for a while, but looking at some of the screenshots kept me away (even though I love the artstyle)….. wild that even the gameplay is like this and that its treated as completely normal
Does anyone remember the Queen Odette fight on Odin Sphere? On the original version on the ps2, not the remake (I think the PAL version was okay too? I forget), her boss battle was almost unplayable because it would be like 5 fps. ALL SO WE COULD HAVE SOME BIG BOUNCY BOOBIES. Well, maybe not just from the boobs alone but it certainly didn’t help.
