When I'm in Discord my friends tell me I cut out a lot, and often times my mic will pick up my boyfriends voice at regular speaking volume but it won't pick up mine. I experimented with the noise suppression settings in Discord and found that when I have noise suppression off it picks me up just fine. I didn't test it super thoroughly and my sample size is small so I was just wondering if anyone else has this experience? If so, any tips/fixes?
Note: I've noticed this issue more often with my desk mic fifine than with my headset arctis 7.
if your pitch is very high or very low, Krisp (the default machine learning powered noise filter) might filter you out.
for folks who have a decent mic i recommend disabling noise suppression and setting your voice activation manually. it’s what i did and it’s been flawless.
turn it off, it’s not great. I use external hardware for noise suppression (dbx 286s) but you could always use the rtx stuff if you have an nvidia rtx card if you really need it.
I haven’t noticed anything like that. I use an el gato wave three, and before that a super cheap mic. Make sure that your input sensitivity is set correctly (best advice I got was to watch it for a minute and then set the sensitivity to about a half inch to an inch above the ambient noise in your area. If you’re noticing it more with one mic than another, that’s also probably not a discord issue.
Yeah, the noise canceling makes my voice cut out, but it also makes my boyfriend’s voice cut out, so I just assumed it was bad for everyone. I have better luck turning it off, and using push-to-talk.
I have an Arctis headset and needed to get a USB adapter to get good audio.
Not when I speak, but when I laugh I get filtered out yes.
I have a wave 3 but also had the same issues with discord cutting me off. In discord I turned off both Echo cancellation and noise suppression, no more getting cut off.
I sometimes have trouble with discord noise suppression but I have found that Nvidia broadcast noise suppression works better and it always picks up my voice. You can try that, it works with discord seamlessly.
