What are you looking for?
The $500 budget means you can’t buy the most expensive desk out there, of course, the high-end products always are, but that doesn’t mean every time you take a look into an electric standing desk, it always has to be Flexispot, Vari, Febozi, Banti or other premium brands!
Indeed you can get more options than you think! And to not waste a single penny, best to get the one that can meet all of your requirements. It’s time for unfamous brands to come out from the shadow!
The best standing desk under $500 at the moment – Recommendations by expert:
I bought one from IKEA years ago for like $500 and it broke within 2 years. So I wanted something a lot more sturdy this time that wasn’t electric (the motor went out on the IKEA).
I was walking through Home Depot and found a Husky work bench that I now own 2 of — at the time they were about $250/ea (now $330). But it’s made of metal and wood and I expect it to outlive me: [https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-62-in-W-x-24-in-D-Adjustable-Height-Solid-Wood-Top-Workbench-Table-in-Black-HOLT62XDB12/301810799](https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-62-in-W-x-24-in-D-Adjustable-Height-Solid-Wood-Top-Workbench-Table-in-Black-HOLT62XDB12/301810799)

I love mine. I’ve had it for over 2 years and got it on [Amazon](https://a.co/d/0bjUFca0). I don’t use it for gaming but my work gear is very heavy and I leave it in standing position often. Still goes up and down just fine. My only regret is not getting the 48” instead of the 40”.

This works great for me. Had it 6 months so far no issues.
I got this one on Amazon for $160 and have had no issues with it, I’ve had it about 6 months now I think? And have moved with it once: https://a.co/d/0fKrpdtu
I went with a manual lift rather than power, figured it would last longer!
Flexiapot E7 pro is time and time again highly rated and well reviewed by trusted ppl
And also currently on sale for around $400 so 👀

I think when the other commenter posted desk haus, they were referring to how people will just buy the frames they sell and then buy solid wood chopping blocks from Home Depot. Lots of people slap it on top as a cheaper alternative to their full price desk.
I bought my frame and wood top separately.
For the frame, I got one from MAIDeSITe, which can save several positions (and also be locked so that you won’t move it by accident). Bought it in Jan 2021 and it is still going strong. Never had any issues with it. Seems nowaday they have even upgraded it with features such as reminders to stand.
I bought a wood top separately from a DIY store, and I like that I will be able to swap it if we move to a new place in the future where I would have the space for a wider desk.
This is the German Amazon, not sure how the availability will be in other countries:

Got something from Wayfair and Inbox Zero, kind of like this. No issues! https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/inbox-zero-jobari-adjustable-height-standing-desk-with-built-in-outlets-w001325054.html
